A/C C230 Kompressor 2002 Problem

I have a new problem with my A/C. Air is cool and has not changed, but now everytime I start my car there is a problem with the A/C. For the first 30 seconds or so after I start the car, I hear a lid closing sound that will alternate from a left vent or right vent inside my car. As if the A/C unit is trying to suck air but can't make up its mind where to get air? This will happen everytime I start the car. Will stop everytime after about 20-30 seconds. Any advice what is the problem?

Lot of mode door servo motor problems on 203 bodies. Simple diagnostic with proper tools.

c230 air filter for a/c?

I have 98K miles on this 2002. Should there be some type of filter that I should replace as it relates to the A/C. For example, is there one inside the car that I should examine before I start doing major diagnostics?

The dust particle filter should be replaced at probably every "B" service. I doubt that it has any part in your problem but a 90k mile old one will probably stiffle airflow totally.

footwell flap linkage

The footwell flap linkage is most likely broken as this is very common. About 3 hours labor warranty time.
