High Idle in '84 380 SL

Hello,
After reading many posts and having the same high idle situation as most I am going to attempt the DIY fixes first. That is check for loose wires on the idle control module and then re-solder the connections as suggested by some. My question, is there any secret to removing the glove box in my 380 SL to get to it. The books and cd's I have tell where the module is but give no instructions to remove the glove box. Seems pretty basic I know, but I would hate to take it in parts to my mechanic ( again.)

Some small screws and out it comes as I recall.

As Check indicated - not much to it. The following discusses an A/C issue on 126 cars. There's some info in this post that discusses glove box removal.

The glove box came out neatly with these instructions. The board looked fresh ( no burn, discoloration etc. ) on inspection but is probably the original. I have an appointment with the shop tomorrow. Thanks again.

have you tested the voltage at the idle contol valve with it plugged up? Pull the plug out a little and you can put your leads on it. if voltage is there your control valve is bad. I did take mine off and cleaned it with Carb. Cleaner then WD 40 and it came to life.
