Unsure now if you mean just removing the screw, or removing the bracket once the screw is removed.
Usually the screw is tight but doesn't present a problem to remove it.
Once it's out, like you already tried use some penetrant oil and some light tapping with a hammer to try to break the seal. If you try to pry on it, you could verry well break off one of the "ears" the rotor screws in to, so it's replacement time then. You could also break the lip on the orange colored disc, so you'd want one of those too.

I cannot take out the front (round) seal. I torched it, thinking it might be rubber, but no go. Soaked on paint thinner, again no go. With all the scraped rubber, it looks like there is metal casing inside this rubber seal. (no not refering to the spring thingy.)

Any suggestions?

the backing plate for the dist.( orange disk thing ) is $119 at mb not availible at parts places so try not to break like I did

Finally got the seal out with the help of my son. I think everything to be taken apart is off.

So, for this segment for all you diy'er. The front (round) seal is rubber with metal casing inside. To take it out, just hammer it from the inside / out by using the right size socket (sorry no size marking on the one I used.) Penerating oil will help.

I wasn't online I guess when all this was going on. I use just a punch and hammer, you could use a socket to remove it as you did, but usually I use a socket just to install the new one, the old one you don't have to be particularly careful, a punch works fine.
