My 240D won't always downshift from 4th to 3rd when I put my foot to the floor (passing gear...if you can use that term with a 240D).
When I stop, it downshifts to 1st. The shift from 1st to 2nd is firm but not harsh, 2 to 3 is good, and 3 to 4 has a little flair, but not much if I'm steady on the throttle.

I've sort of gotten used to it and I downshift manually when I need it...but sure would be nice to get it repaired. It's been like this for 4 or 5 years.
