Rusty hydraulic pipes '90 300TE 4-Matic

The problem started with leaking pipes in the hydraulic system that pumped all the fluid out in my driveway. Had them patched and after that the rear suspension feels very different - harsher than before and the self levelling doesn't seem to work properly. There is nothing in my manual about a bleeding procedure for the rear suspension - only for the 4-Matic system. I feel that there could be a lot of air in the self levelleling system. Maybe I should try to loosen the connection next to each "shock absorber" and allow it to run until no more bubbles? Any ideas?
Also all the pipes under the rear are very corroded. Can they be cut and spliced successfully and would it be possible to replace part of it with flexible hydraulic hoses?
