:D The jokes would be too easy.....

Which panels are you referring to?

I thought that it is not too many of them in 260E and I need them all, almost :-)
I need one that covers a climate control unit and another that covers window switches on the central console. Only one is left - an ash tray, but luckely I have it.

I've seen a variety of these pieces on eBay, usually pretty reasonable, too. The one exception would (wood? ha) be the piece around the gearshift. It seems every one of those has cracks in the finish. Maybe you can find one that's an improvement over the one you have now. :)

I just got my new console from Caliber Motors in Anaheim...paid about $180 for it.

You will have to get the blockout plastic covers for the extra cutouts for the seat heater switches though...they reside near the front of the console.

The new console looks far nicer than the old cracked one I used to have...in fact I went ahead and got the chrome shift surround and wood shifter knob to complete the look!

Patience. It's 17 years old, a few weeks won't hurt. :D

I've never looked at a 124 260E but did they not offer Zebrano Wood for console etc.? Or do you have wood and the finish has deteriorated?

I'm curios to know because in my 87 300D, the original finish on the Zebrano Wood was a bit faded and had the usual cracks. I was successful in removing all the original finish without sanding through the wood, which is a thin veneer glued onto an aluminum form.

Believe it or not, the Zebrano is actually very light blond with brown and when varnished, I used a top grade of marine varnish, 7 coats, it is just awesom and blends perfectly with my dark brown dash and light tan interior. Plus I have custom professionally lased lt.leather tanned leather steering wheel wrap.

I'm not sure the light finish would go well with a black dash and interior, too much contrast, but may look ok with other interior colors.

If my memory serves correct, the answer is no! 126 cars have what looks similar, but different design than the 124.

Why not try some salvage yards? I'm pretty sure that probably not all, but most 124 sedan's wood panels are mainly the same, wagons have a few more button switches.
