W124/M103 O2 Sensor R/R - Center console needs removed?

As I ponder this seemingly simple repair, I see the sensor wires go between the carpet and the center console - does the console need to be removed/loosened for this job?

THANKS in advance -

Brian

Wink

No, just remove the carpet & you can get to the O2 sensor plugs.

No, you just have to lift up the carpet on the pass side. There is a plastic conduit with the wires inside if I remember right. I know I didn't mess with the center console when I replaced my o2 sensor in my '87 300E.
