looking at bringing a 98' SLk into the US from Paris France, anyone know anything about this? Any thoughts on the car meeting US Standards?

This has been discussed numerous times! Please search the archives for "grey market" or "gray market". The general consensus seems to be that it is a pain in the you know where to do it.

The topic has been discussed, however, to make the story digging short....Sell the car, and get one in US....

I'm afraid I have to agree with akry.
I was looking into this because of my desire for one of the neat manual transmission Benz's I saw in Europe this year. I wanted to bring one back very badly. MBUSA saved me the trouble by finally making a manual transmission sedan available in the US. This was a good thing because bringing a non US spec car to the US is fraught with more problems than an election in Florida.
