Cahnging timing chain fastner and hydraulic valve lifters
 
Could somebody please tell me the proper procedure to change the timing chain tightening device and hydraullic valve lifters in a E 300 D 1995. Is it a risky job. How does one come to know that the tightening device and hydraulic kifters need replacement. ;)

Suspicion is being aroused from a sound after startup, a typical "tuk, tuk" sound. This sound disappears at a higher RPM. Please help. :)

you mean tik tik sound then its the lifters and a good quality synthetic oil and filter change should help
