Climate Control Regulator

This regulator is located under the dashboard on the passenger side, right next to the fender on the 1989 300SE. Mine squeaks terribly, so I disabled it by jamming a small object into the impeller. Now, as to be expected, my climate control system cannot regulate the temperature. Is this part difficult to replace for the do-it-yourselfer?
