Exclamation Starter Problem

My 1985 190E starter failed. Had starter replaced. After serveral starts it failed (made a whirring sound), had it hauled to repair shop on flatbed type tow truck. They said the fly wheel was broken and wanted more than the cars worth to remove and fix. I went to car and it started up OK. So I drove it home and have since started it about 20 times without fail. However it makes a clank after the eigine catches. I have low confidence in the starter, but don't think the flywheel is problem. Could this just be an alignment thing? Please HELP.

Where

Where was the starter replaced? Was at an MB dealer, or an indepedent who specializes in MBs? What is the starter model number/part number? Did you check the retaining bolts, are they on tight?
