how to get a working tachometer?
 

i cant get my tachometer to work in my 1980 280ce euro 4spd to '84 diesel turbo conversion. neither the '80 or the '84 have a tack amplifier on the driver side wheel well. i dont think there was ever an EGR controler on the 280 m110.

i have both tachs, all wiring and relays, including the kilma from the '84 w123

don

Hook it to power, ground and an engine speed signal. The speed signal comes from the ignition control unit. That is if you are puting the M110 into the diesel. If you are going the other way you will need a speed sensor pickup for the front of the motor and the transducer to convert it to a usable signal.

What is a transducer? How does it looks like?
 

I am going the second way. Have the pickup signal sender, have the tachometer. How can I connect them to each other? What is the role of the transducer? Can I improvise one?
