Hello All,
I need to replace the left rear bearing on our 87 300e. I have read many of the posts and understand what a challenging job this can be. I am a good diyer but I may have to take it in. However, one option that might be possible at home is simply swap out the entire carrier/hub/bearing with a good recycled unit. So if I were to do this, I think I need a special joint remover tool, or not? The 124 CD mentions part 201 589 01 33 00 and 201 589 05 63 00. Can anyone who has done this job share your experience and job notes? All input is much appreciated. Thanks, Greg Last edited by mb280ce; 11-16-2004 at 10:25 AM. |

I just took the carrier out and had a local shop put the new bearing in. I was also replacing links at the same time.
Also, check the outer lower link ball joint that is also pressed into the carrier. |
