OBD2 Drive Cycles for SL ??

Hi, I'm new to this forum but seems to be a lot of expertise around here!!!
I changed the battery in my 96 SL600 and a week later took it into be state inspected. Ny state requires the emission check with the obd2 system in place. It failed as there was no info stored because of the voltage interuption. I called the dealer about this and they told me to just drive it for a few days. Well i drove it every day for a week and went back only to fail again for the same reason. The mechanic said i have to perform some very specific "drive cycles" to get the info into the computers. He didnt know what they are for a SL600 or any MB tho for that matter. Could someone tell me the exact procedure if they have it? Much appreciated.

How to get the 'cycles' to set in OBDII for SL 600

And just how is one supposed to get the 6 L engine at steady 40% load for 30 sec without going well over 100 MPH?

It looks to me impossible to operate the car legally and get the OBDII memory loaded with all the diagnostic codes.

drive cycle

kebowers,
you are not completly understanding the test for the VSS.
the parameters are the car is in drive, not necessarily in high gear.
load is to be greater than 40% (>) not steady @ 40%. tests occur During acelleration
vehicle speed greater than 25mph
with the RPM between 2500-4500
for 30 seconds.
how is this not possible?
