94 E320 New Clue For Code 20 Problem

I waited a few days after clearing my codes and then checked again. I still had the code 20 from Emissions (speed sensor not present) and the code 9 from pin 14, (Hall Effect Sensor). But this time I also had a code 28 from pin 8 (VSS Open Circuit). Does this mean anything new? Should I also try tea leaves?

I did remove the instrument cluster to verify that all the wires were connected. I looked at what I thought was the Hall effect sensor, which was, as Arthur said, incorporated into the instrument cluster. It seems odd for this part to fail because it is basically a magnet which picks up an analog signal. Does anyone think that the open circuit could be caused by the Cruise Amp?

The car runs well, except for the CEL staring at me like a wounded bear, I wouldn't know there was a problem.

If the DM is telling me a sensor is open, I get my meter out and verify the sensor and wiring..you can't tell looking at it..

Now We Are Getting Somewhere!

I've got my multimeter and I'm ready. Now what? Where should I place the probes?

Somewhere the wires to the VSS will go back to a connector .. I think this is x53/1 connector.
I don't have the schematic up now..
Anyway , the two leads that go to the coil should have an ohm value .. if they do not, it is open and therefore does not pick up the signal
The meter should be on OHMS scale and the leads should be placed across the coil..[ unplugged ]

What Does the X53/1 Connector Look Like?

Thanks, Arthur.

Do you or does anyone know what this connector looks like and how I can access it?

I am trying to find it
the schematic only shows 1/2 of the N6 sender and part of the plug.. I think the other part is in the CC schematic
these things are a B..ch to read sometimes
I will see what I can find if someone doesn't post that already knows the answer...
