				starter bolts on 500SEL

Does anybody have a suggestion about what socket to use to remove the two starter bolts that hold it onto the block? There is NO clearance to get a socket in there. Even a short 19mm socket doesn't fit and this is the bottom bolt. Can't imagine what it takes to remove the top one! Please help with whatever the trick is. Boy do I feel DUMB! Thanks.

Being unfamiliar with your situation I would suggest using a 19mm box wrench.

				How to remove starter bolts

I think the bolts are turned from the back side using long extensions and universal joint.

Thank you for your help. I found a 10mm allen head socket at a local parts store and was lucky enough to find my extra thin snap on 19mm wrench for the bottom bolt to bearly clear the starter. Why no room to get a wrench in there?

Can you imagine? TWO days to remove and replace a starter! How ridiculous! The starter itself is easy to access but the bolt setup is ridiculous. Totally unnecessary imo. |
