Is this a DIY job?

Having problems with front caliper pistons sticking. Should i rebuild them or buy new calipers from Fastlane?

You first need to determine why they are sticking. Might not be a caliper problem.

I had them inspected by a local indy and was told they were 15 years old and need to be replaced. The pads on the drivers side are thinner then the pass. side. It's time to do something. The kit is not that expensive, but if it will involve any machine work, then i will replace the caliper.

Most Mercedes brake calipers have chromed bores that cannot be honed. Rebuilding the caliper only involves replacing the seals and dust boots. You really need to inspect the bore in order to make your decision. If the bore and pistons are in good shape, the kit would likely be the way to go. I would also replace the pads, flexible hoses and rotors. All reasonable DIY jobs. And repack the wheel bearings while you are at it. (Amazing how one thing leads to another.)

Autozone or Advance Auto Parts sells rebuilt calipers for $40 or so after shipping.
Thanks

Tangofox 007: I replaced Discs,Bearings,Pads add master cylinder 15,000 ago. I will check the pistons and bores tomorrow. Want 71 280sel: Did you ever use calipers from Auto Zone or advanced Auto Parts,i didn't think they sold MB parts.

They do, that's where I bought them when we had my mom's 420. It was one of the two. I'm leaning more towards Autozone, but check them borth online at their sites. They're MB calipers that you get, and they look new and clean; they're great. Of course no affiliation... :sneaky:
Thanks
David
