LS1 engine swap
Just wondering... has anyone swapped an LS1 (Chevy V8) into a 70’s SL?

dont know but it wouldnt surprise me if they have.
but a 560 mb engine would seem a more natural choice to me. at present i would think you could find one pretty reasonably, too. it would be a lot more sellable that way. with a chevy motor i would think it would be about sale proof...unloved by chebby guys and detested by mb guys. tom w

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Resale value is of little concern. I bought it years ago on a whim... it's a looker and no hard or soft top issues. I'm rather gun-shy to putting another Mercedes engine in it. I had a trusty 240D that blew a piston. I was ready to rebuild it until I found out how much the parts alone would be. This car is for fun, not for breaking the bank.
Regards, Steve |
