Heater Motor (blower?) 260E

How to check if the Heater Motor (blower?) is Ok?
I can not turn on a fan from a climate control unit.

Have you check the fuse (outside the fuse box) 30amp strip fuse

disconnect connection at fan motor and check to see if you have power. if you do, fan has probably gone south. You can rebuild but a pain to do so.

The fuse is fine.
Where should I "disconnect connection at fan motor and check to see if you have power"? How can I reach it? From under a hood or from inside?
Please, give some details. Tnx.

mine is located under the dash, passengers footwell, electrical conection is obvious.
Yours may run first to a fan or temp regulator box, in either case varrious points can be tested. If yours is different from above set up locate fan housing and look for connection there.
good luck

Check the blower fuse first -- it's in a little black snap-top box on the left shock tower, an aluminum strip with two phillips screws holding it down. Probably cracked across from flexing with heat, costs about forty cents.

I just bought a strip fuse from my local dealer in IL and paid 5$. OK if you can not find it anywhere else, but you may check with part stores first. I wish I would of, especially since it did'nt fix my problem, still chasing it down. If I find anything that may help you I will let you know. Good luck.

Do I need to remove the dash to reach those wires?

Does anyone knows for sure where 260E has the blower(fan) wires and how to reach them? Can I see them if I remove a climate control unit? Does those wires have a color code?

Tnx.

Blower motor is in the climate control case, and I think the wires are on the driver's side. I think you need to remove the lower cover on the driver's side of the dash -- pull carpet and remove the plastic nuts that look like a small hat and pull the black plastic cover up off the screws, then down to unclip it from the cover. You should be able to reach the wires there -- they are the only paired set with a connector. There are two more pairs of wires, but they are the temp sensors for the evaporator and heater core, don't have a connector as I remember.

hey,

My 88 300e blower was on the firewall underneath of the windshield wiper motor. Mine blower quit I tested the volts at the motor and it was fine. Replaced motor and now it works great. :)

Here is a picture of the fuse holder (foreground, black box) viewing is from the left front fender.

Is the fuse box connected right before a blower motor?
Is it right to test the fuse connector against Ground (-) of battery? So, if I have 12V there my blower motor is bad?
