Swapping Front Seats...1999 C280

Hey 'yall...my drivers seat is getting worn in and before it gets age damaged, I was considering switching the driver's seat with the passenger seat. Is this possible?

Thanks for your reply...

WOW talk about thinking the same!! :bulb: i just went to my car at lunch time thinking maybe i could swap mine side to side. although a different model and vintage it looks quite possible on my 87 w201

On manual seats, the seat bottoms are a cinch to swap. Powered seats might be a different story.

Keep in mind the passenger seat has an occupant sensor on the cushion (for air bag system) and also the baby-smart transponder. At least the 98 W202 did.

I think the arm rest would present a problem.

The W202 has no seat mounted armrest. But, on the 1999 models, you have the problems, as mentioned, of the SRS sensor and BabySmart sensor. If you can live with the SRS system faulting and defaulting to "off", then perhaps.

Have you looked into recovering the seat? If it's leather, it's not that tough, but might be pricey.

But the 201 does... that's why the response was directed at Jbwabco -- he has a 201.
