Just a suggestion.

This forum site needs a root forum for various how to's and newbie faqs.

I believe this request should be under "General Feedback". Also, on the home page there is a section "DIY". I think what you are looking for would go there. The FAQ's is a good idea since the same questions get asked repeatedly every few weeks. It would be nice if there were check boxes on the threads to select what model and sub category is being discussed (engine, oil, battery, shocks, etc). I believe this would make searching and archiving somewhat easier.

I prefer it the way it is now. Because of the similarities between most Benz models, a post is more likely to get more replies while everything is together. If the forum was divided between different models, everyone would go to their specific model, thereby losing that benefit.

What I'd like to see though, is more stuff added to the DIY section.

I am not suggesting that the forum be divided, just that when posting a thread a couple of boxes are checked to help in future searches. Different people talking about the same thing use different words or leave some info out so this would help people more readiliy use existing resources (historical threads).

Meaningful information in the SUBJECT field should be mandatory. I suppose it might be hard to grade this, but posts like "Has anyone seen this before" and "Help Benzmac!!!!" should be erased immediately.

An FAQ would be nice for people who have the good sense to do some searching on their own first. There was a sticky at the top of the tech section asking people to first use the SEARCH facility. Little good that did. Every week we get another "Green coolant" "M103 using oil?" post. I suspect the person who put it there finally realized it was a waste of time & removed it.
