M.103 Performance Data
I have now owned my car for just over 1 year.
I changed to Mobil 1 5-50W at 140,000 kms earlier this year. The records showed a varied use of dino, mobil 1 and synthetic blend during the regular services. The car was regularly dealer serviced up to 100,000km. Independent serviced from then till now. No major engine or gearbox work is recorded (other than general servicing). This was the first scheduled change during my ownership following the initial pre purchase inspection and subsequent tune-up and general maintenance I completed at purchase time. Along with the cooling system the front cover oil leaks were overhauled at that time. I now have 149,300 km on the clock and will soon change oil again. During this time I have monitored the oil but never once topped up (as suggested in this forum). The oil indicator light came on for the first time last week even though the dipstick shows 2-3mm of oil above the min. marking. I have added half a litre to keep the light off. My daily running is around 50km of generally free-flowing traffic. I seem to average around 8.4 km/litre which equates to just under 20 mpg. It gets a periodic dose of 2nd gear redline to keep things clear. In a recent country drive not exceeding 120 km/h she achieved 10.92 km/litre that equates to 25-26 mpg. She really purrs along at that speed. I just thought it may be interesting for other M103 (W124 & W126) owners to compare similar stats against the mileage and service history of the cars to build up a clear picture of performance, and rebuild items across the models. Any takers? 89 300CE 149.3k kms Now if I could just fix that pesky warm start / die / start problem it would be perfect! |
