Engine cranks but won't start...help!
My 380 SEL is trying to turn over but just won't.
Any suggestions as to what may be wrong? Should I try a carb cleaner or gumout type of stuff? Thanks in advance. |
Has the car sat inactivefor any period of time? Is it cranking at regular speed? If so, I would first check for spark at a spark plug, by removing one of the plug wires at the plug and checking for a good spark to ground. If spark is found, check for fuel delivery to the fuel distributor.

Check OVP relay fuse, fuel pumps (must run while cranking), and fuel pressure (probably have to take it to a shop for this). Dead fuel pump, dead fuel pump relay, dead OVP (no cold start), or bad accumulator will all prevent fuel delivery, hence no start.
Also check for spark, and check condition of cap, rotor, and wires. Have a care, it has a high voltage ignition. Peter |
