Smoky Breather
Hi buddies, is it normal to have white smoke from the engine breather hose? I removed the hose from the air-filter box today and noticed this. I am also getting fouled up plugs on 2 cylinders every 1000 miles. Car is a 89 300CE.

White smoke is usually indicative of steam which points to maybe a head gasket issue. Not sure why it is coming from the breather hose - I'll have to think about that some. Is your car the dual overhead cam engine? If it is then it is probably time for a new head gasket.

Definitely not the head gasket. Smells of burnt oil...

Excessive blowby, probably bad valve guides, might be bad cylinder walls, might be a bad head gasket. Time for a leakdown test and exhaust in coolant test.
