Paint water pump?
I replaced the water pump on my wifes 300D a few months ago. Its now covered in rust. I am about to replace my water pump on my 300CD. Should I paint it first? If so what paint would you recommend?

I would think some nice cheap spray Rustoleum, in an industrial silver, would work nicely - obviously don't paint the inside. The other alternative would be to move further away from the coast - say to Arizona.

I've used Rustoleum on the calipers of my 71 Cutlass. It still holds up well after 20 years. I think painting is a good idea if you have the ambition.

I've used Rustoleum for my van's water pump and brake calipers. I used gloss black and it has held up for the last 6 years.

I don't think you should paint the water pump, Sonax used to sell a engine plaster product - a spray that is applied to aluminum and alloy unpainted engines to prevent rust, check www.carcareonline.com to see if it or a similar product is available

is it brand new waterpump???? If brand new waterpump, it supposes no rust!!! If getting rust easily, most of them are rebuilt. Buy the brand new one and it will last longer than the built.
