Problems with 190E running, 1986 2.3 8 Valve version.
When I push the gas pedal down I get fine response for the first half of the accel pedal but the last half has the engine bog down the more load it has! Seems great in 1st and 2nd but when in 3rd and 4th and up above 50-60 MPH the engine bogs! IS that a sign of too much fuel and not enough air or the other way around? Can anyone think of what it may be. Mixture at idle is spot on, maybe a hair lean but withing MB Specs according to the maint CD. Can not of course adjust mixture now since I put the stupid ball bearing in the tower after I installed the new Lambda tower and set it! Any ideas? Any way to get the stupid ball out without getting yet another lambda tower? I know I should have waited to put the ball in but I was thinking this was the last time I would ever have to do the mixture again as the engine was running great in the garage. Reason for new tower was wandering mixture after it was set with the old one. Depending on which way I turned the key the mixture would always wander that way, so if leaner was the last turn then it would keep wnadering leaner!
Pleas help as I am at my wits end with trying to get this POS to run smooth. |
