My wife and I just purchased our second Mercedes-Benz. A 1992 300-E sportline. I like the car and for my wife it works well and is safe. I found the stock headlights terrible even with the factory driving lights below build into the air dam and the yellow fog lights on.
I understand the best up garade is to go to either a Bosch European Headlight or the 500-E headlight unites. I plan on keeping the wipers and not installing the dash switch to level the lights because we hardly use the car for transporting other people and baggage. Is there a good source for these headlight unites for this car and what is the difference between the 500-E lamps and the 300-E European lamps? Also will the setting on the factory switch be changed with either lamp? the last pull out operates the air-dam driving lights. Thank you for your advice. Bob Geco |

If you plan to keep the wipers . . . you'll need to source the euro wiper parts, or modify the US system, since it's not compatible with the E-code headlights.

Do a search on euro headlights. There is plenty of info.
