Source Throttle Actuator 1995 E320

Would anyone have a good source for purchaseing this part. I am really reluctant on a used one. Car runs horrible even afteer 2K invested in new wiring harness, coilpaks , spark plugs. Mechanic says throttle actuator will fix. But this is the same guy who told me the wiring harness would definetely fix it. car came back running almost as bad plus covered in road dust.

Contact Phil via this website. Just because a part is not listed in the FastLane DIY search database, does not mean it cannot be found at a reasonable price. A used actuator will almost certainly have the same bad wire as the one you are removing.

I went through the same ordeal you are going through.

I even purchased the throttle actuator and it didn't fix the problem.

Took the car to the local MB dealer, and they diagnosed a vacum leak at the intake manifold, and it fixed the problem.

A vacum leak can make it look like you have a bad MAF and / or throttle actuator.

As Paul indicates you want to make sure that's the problem before you jump. I priced them not so long ago in the $800 range - you've just got to shop around. Also try Beckman Technologies in NC (800-742-1021) who rebuilds some of them. With a part number they can tell you whether they can rebuild it and the price. Also it sounds like it might be about time to cast your fate with a new mechanic.

Throttle Actuator

Hello, Thanks to all for input

I am in Durham, North Carolina and I followed up with Beckmann technologies. Surprise, they are also in Durham, North Carolina and about 10 minutes from our home.

I called and they did not have a rebuilt in stock but they can rebuild mine if necessary. (Phil, gave me the #) They are going to check it first and let me know. i just have to take it to there shop and drop it off. The estimate was for $630.00 , if rebuild is necessary.

The present state of my car having it checked may save time , money and aggravation..
I will keep you all posted

here is some further information in case anyone needs it..

Give us a call or e-mail your request -- we'll come through for you!

Followup

Hello, if anyone has followed this thread my car is now back running perfectly. I went to the Beckman Technology shop and they did have an
actuator.. I purchased it with the core charge and had full intention of bringing them back the old one. Turns out I looked at the installation and thought yes , I can probably do this but maybe it would be best to have someone who really knows do the installation. I brought the car to another Shop " Better Wrench" in Chapel Hill at the recommendation of the folks at Beckmans, and it turned out I did not need a throttle actuator at all. There was a another bad coilpak and as soon as it was replaced everything was fine.
Net saving on bringing the car there was probably $1200.00 , maybe more . I think the other shop would have worked his way to it eventually but there is a difference between a $10.00 an hour mechanic and a $75.00 an hour mechanic. They should have had it the first time and I think they were just ripping me off.
That stuff catches up to people and sooner or later turns around and bites them..

When you say "coilpak", do you mean one individual coil wire, or one coil wire boot?
