Charcoal Canister replacement
I'm getting ready to do a 90,000 mile service, and in my maintenance booklet it says under the heading "Engine Compartment" to "replace activated charcoal filter" Every 75000 miles/120000km/4 years.
Since I am almost certain that the cabin filter has no charcoal filter, I must assume that this refers to the emission control charcoal filter. Has anyone replaced the charcoal canister as a part of preventive maintenance? Is theis the actual part that the manual is referring to? Thanks, Troy 1995 E420 88k |

Anyone? Anyone ever replace the charcoal canister on a E420 / 400E for maintenance purposes?

Benz has 3 types of cabin filter.
1) A Dust Filter 2) A Combination Filter (dust filter with a bit of carbon filter capabilities and finer filter material. 3) A Active Charcol Filter (fitted with a dust filter also in W211) The active filter was an option on earlier cars and on the low end of current models. If you don't have a button for it on ths A/C control panel then you don't have it, just use a combination filter.
