Oil filter cannister lid
I am new to Mercedes and I just had my oil changed at a local (non Mercedes) garage and the oil cannister lid was too tight to get off with bare hands. Since the arrow on the lid indicates counter clockwise rotation, I was afraid to put a wrench on it and turn it without knowing for sure which way loosens the lid. Is it clockwise to tighten or clockwise to loosen? Do I need to use a special tool to get this off?
Thanks for your help! Larry |

From a previous post from biglar, I'd guess it's a 1995 C280. The 104 engine.

I broke down and bought the Mercedes tool >
after trying every tool in my box. With the right tool it came off in 10 seconds. That was on my 94 E320 - same M104 engine though.

You may want to get the proper tool to avoid cracking the plastic canister. I got mine for $3.
