More climate control woes
Here is the latest in a long line of climate control problems I have experienced(archives have been researched with not matches).
My system works fine when the middle console is removed and the fan and climate control unit are hooked back up without being mounted in the console. Replace the console, reinstall the components and I have no fan switch control. Any ideas?

I had a multitude of problems with my 1979 450SL's climate control, ultimately replacing almost every componenent. One of the surprising (and expensive ~$500) items in that mix was the dashboard panel unit, with the buttons that switch the fan speed and direction. You may want to look at that.
