Hood repairs to a 95 w140

I recently had the hood fly up and wrap over the roof on my 95 S420. Well I have a new (and painted) hood (tiawan special) that I want to install and am looking for pointers on how to seperate the old hinges from the car (they got twisted pretty badly).

I'm to understand that I have to remove the fenders to access the hinge bolts. This will involve removing the trim section between the fender and rocker panel between the door and front tire. Two bolts secure the trim to the door and a hidden bolt in the wheel well. Removal is pull the top out from the car and then raise the trim portion (so I believe).

Thats as much as I have gathered at this time. I can see the 5 bolts holding the top of the fender and the 2 or three holding it in the door recess but I can't see any bolts below the fender (because of the trim piece) or what is holding it in the front of the car.

Does anyone have the exposure to comment before I do some costly damage?

Ron

Remove the tire and the fender liner and you should have access to the hidden hinge bolt(s). I don't think that you have to remove the fenders. Be careful tho, after 11 years the liners are kind of brittle. The liners have four mounting studs each three in the wheel well and one under the car. New liners are about $80 bucks each.

Status and thanks

Nhodges:

Thanks....you saved me the need to dissassembly the whole front end. It was a bear to remove all the mangled hinges (primarily the hood spring arm from the hinge proper), but the old hood is gone and the new hood installed. Hardware/windshield washer plumbing is all that is left to route.

Thanks again.

Ron
