Any EZL/AKR experts out there?

I guess the problem with my 300SL not shifting is caused by the EZL no longer working.

The question I have, does anyone know how these things work? There is a map sensor in it so I understand that part and it controls the coils for spark but there seems to be hundreds of different ones used on all different cars. Does anyone know if I can put one from a different model car just to try it or perhaps it would work fine and I wouldn't even notice a difference?

The one I need of course is $1700.00 but used ones can be bought for about $100.00 bucks but no one seems to have the number I need.

Has anyone ever replaced one with a different number?

The one I need is a 010 545 9532 or 012 545 2032

I'm 90% certain this is the problem but this is a very costly guess.

You mention you are 90% sure it is the EZL...Did you check the signal from the EZL to the transmission module? At idle you should measure approximately .8 VAC between pins 1 and 13. If you disconnect the vacuum line to the EZL, the measured voltage should increase to 2+ VAC.

Sorry, but I have no answers to your questions.

Yeah, I did that and there is no change with the hose unhooked, so maybe I should be like 99% sure.

Do you mean NOT starting?? OR does the car run?

The transmission is mechanical & the trans computer affects 4-5 gear shifts only.

No, the car runs fine it just won't shift into 5th gear. I've been over everything reguarding the HGS and the MAS. The MAS gets the load signal from the EZL and tells the transmission to shift into 5th gear...so you have the RPM signal, Load and position of the switch on the shifter.

The EZL has two codes one of them is for the map sensor or load sensor which is fixed at this point. It should change with the removal of the vacume line.

Anyway back to the question. Does anyone know if an EZL from a car other then a 90 300SL will work?

Thanks guys.
