How to open dash cover under steering wheel

Can anyone let me know how do I open dash cover under steering wheel?

On my 190E there are screws. ;)

It would help to know what chassis you are talking about. For any W123 series car, there are small oval covers that come out. Then you use a phillips and unscrew the screws. There are 3 of them. Then down by the parking brake petal, there is a plastic "screw" that just needs to be turned left or right 90 degs. and removed. There is also another one of these gray plastic "screws" on the console side of the panel.

Everlyne-
Folks are confused because you've double posted this and assume everyone knows what you're talking about... you already asked for this information in another posting that we were trying to help you with.
A little patience would go a long way. If you visit this board frequently, you'll understand that folks have other things (like jobs!) in their lives that don't allow instant look up of information and response.

The lower dash cover on your W140 is held on by 7 screws and 1 nut. See the attached pix. The tricky one is behind the vent that faces the door. Gently pry that vent out to access the screw.

My appology if I have offended you.

Without your picture and advice, I would most probably have broken the cover. I have managed to open the cover and take out the plastic handle.

Once again thank you for all your time and help.

No apology necessary... no offense taken.
One of the things that makes this board so great (compared to all the other forums I frequent) is the overwhelming willingness of folks to share their knowledge so that we can all enjoy our MB's.
In order for folks to do that and to not waste bandwidth or time, we need as much information as possible to help understand the posted problem or question.

Anyway, glad you got to your problem. :D Best way to thank the board is to share your newly gained knowledge with all... I've certainly never replaced a brake handle... is it mounted from the back? is it a straightforward repair when you remove the lower cover? Anything you can share on taking the lower cover off?

Good luck with your Benz.

1. Open the lower cover
2. Push the parking handle in and down.
3. Release off the cable (it is almost similar to releasing bicycle brake cable)
That's it. It is very straight forward.

How to take the lower cover off?
1. unscrew all screws 2, 3, 4 (two of them), 5, 6 and 7.
2. you do not need to open the nut.
3. Lower the cover by pushing downward
4. pull the cover towards screw number 5 to release the vent inside screw number 3.
DONE.

Hope it explains.
