Seat Belt Light and delay interior shutoff
I have a 93 400E and the seat belt indicator light will not stop blinking once the door is closed, whether or not the key is in ignition. Could this be a problem with the relay or is it related to the peg style plunger that the door closes on?
Also, from the same overhead console, the interior light does not go out once the door is closed as it is supposed to do on the delay setting. THanks for any input! |
Plunger not making contact with whatever it is the plunger touches behind the a-pillar?

Thanks for the reply - but I think this has to do with the roof console the more I look into it. The plunger works in that when it is not depressed the light stops blinking (this also applies to the passenger door plunger). Has anyone replaced the unit on the roof that controls interior lights as well as the sunroof?

jpganman... did you ever find the fix for your "seat belt indicator light will not stop blinking" problem. I have a 93 400e that just started having the same problem.
Thanks, Russell |
Does anyone else think this problem could be related to the seat belt relay module? I think the module is accessed by removing the instrument cluster.
Any help would be appreciated! Russell |
seat belt light
i just had the same problem today, it turned out to be the overhead panel was defective. acted exactly as you all describe seatbelt blinking continiously and dome lamp not turning off, replace the upper panel and all was fine customer left happy. also the new panel does not come with the sunroof switch or the in car temp sensor they are easilly transfered to the new unit, but does come with bulbs, the part number is 124-820-05-01

Yeah, I have that.
In the past, posts have narrowed this problem to the seat belt warning relay. I still have not gotten around to installing the one I bought to solve it... |
csnow... it sounds like carson356 fixed the problem by replacing the overhead lamp assembly. I assume the lamp assembly and the relay are two seperate items parts?

I just suffer in the dark. The perpetual flashing lights only happen if the passenger door is closed last. Flashing will stop if I turn the key to on, then off again. Has the potential to run down the battery. You could have the console problem mentioned. Everything up there tested ok for me. |
