'88 300E Stalls once in a while
 

The car starts as normal and works perfectly fine on a freeway due to the fact that there's no full stops but when you drive around 7-8 MPH and/or come to a full stop, it surges and stalls. Within 5 minutes it starts again but after 3-4 miles, it stops yet again.

What I did was:
1.change the 2 fuel pumps
2.change the fuel relay
3.did a tune-up
4.changed the air cleaner
5.got the fuel line sucked out

After all that,it still happens.Can anyone please help.Thanks

I am having a similar problem right now... :confused:

I would suspect the over voltage protection relay, the idle control valve, and vaccum leaks.

Buy some quality fuel injector cleaner. Even if this does not solve the problem, it can only help. Just pour into the tank according to the instructions. :)

clean the throttle body and throttle body plate with a rag saturated with carb cleaner....rub, rub , rub....
Carbon buildup forms on the mating area between the plate and the throttle body it'self. Doesn't cost you much to do.. Make sure that you put back the MAS just the way you pulled it out; if you have it on top of your throttle body. My m119 (sl500) engine ran 100% better by just cleaning this part. Hope it works for you as well.

I have a 260E 1988 and does the same thing.
I changed also the OVP but it is still stalling
Do you know how to set the stop screw of the throttle flap?
when cleaning mine I change that setting?

Does it only happen when the engine is hot or cold? If the temperature gets up to about 90 degrees and then cuts out, it could be the crank sensor.

I had a problem with my crank sensor that would kill the engine and the start up after about five minutes or so after the engine cools a bit. It would get hot again and cut out once more.

No sir, I don't. WHat do you mean you changed it? To clean this part, all you need to do is either push down on the plate and reach down with your rag using your fingers or you could ask someone to step on the gas ( with engine off , ofcourse) and clean upto where you can reach. Do not use paper towels or any paper products due to it tearing apart and dropping into the intake manifold. A cotton rag is preferrable.
