Hello,
I just got a '97 S500 coupe I already love dearly. I've gotten all my ducks in a row under the hood and have started in on the interior issues.
Both the drivers and passengers seat were functioning properly, when tilted forward they would slide out of the way for back seat egress. Yesterday I had some old window tint removed from the back window and to make a long story short now my passenger seat no longer moves itself forward when the seat back is tilted. It also seems that when the seat back is locked in place only one side is locking. I was present for the entire tint removal and know that no one knocked the seat around, but getting in and out the seat got pushed around once or twice. The seat does move via the door switch.
From the searches I've done I learned there are switches in the base of the seat that trigger the seat moving. My question is are these something I can even get access to and try to fix? Is the locking seat mechanism something I can gain access to as well?
If anyone has any tips on this issue or taking the seat apart I'd really appreciate pointers. The last thing I want to do is break something else on the seat I can't replace.
Thank you for any comments or suggestions.
Matthew
