Seatbelt Warning Light Remains ON

1989 300E

Would anyone be able to advise me as to the cause of this condition. The seatbelt warning light above the rearview mirror remains on all the time. Even if I engage all 5 sets of seatbelts, the light does not turn off at all.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
