stuck in park!!
today, sunday a.m. driving a 2000 c-230 kompressor 4-dr, spilled coffee on the console around the shifter and winter/ summer traction control switch.
cruising around 35 mph the transmission stayed in 2nd gear- limp mode I believe, the check engine light and the BAS/ESP light came on and stayed on. stopped the car and a few minutes later the car would start but not allow shifting into reverse or any other gear from park. shut the engine off and waited 10 minutes, then I was able to shift into reverse and drive. the car stayed in 2nd gear and I drove all the way home under 35 mph. disconnected the battery and the check engine light went off, but the BAS/ESP light stayed on. the engine runs perfect, no fuel odors, noise or any other sign of problems. now the car is still stuck in my driveway, can not shift it. the shift lever is stuck in PARK!! why?? |
There are some delicate switches under the console on the transmission that are subject to moisture. You will have to replace a part. The same thing happens on the E class. I don't know about the C class, but on the E class that is where they stupidly put the cup holder.
