vibration noise not wheel balance

1. I have a vibration noise on the left front only between 45-55 MPH, it sounds like that rattle when you turn the speakers up hudd hudd huddddd hudd hudd…

2. It’s not engine/RPM related because it does it on “N” coasting at the same speed.

3. It’s not wheel balance because if I switch the wheel and it’s still there.

4. I’ve looked under there and everything seems to be ok and tight.

5. Also took the finder off to see the air canister and vacuum bottle, both are secured.

6. Any ideas what else is going on? I wish I have something to check it at 45-55 MPH.

Car specs: 1988 260E California
Modifications to that area:
Intrax springs with 2 nibs rubber pads
Wheels: 17 X 7.5 from CL500 tires 225X45X17 (yes it’s tight but fit and operational)
ABS is disconnected in this car

After a year still no luck

Ok after a year living with this noise I still can’t figured out what could be causing it. It hasn’t gotten any louder or change symptoms, here are some more things I’ve checked:

1. It’s not wheel bearings (replaced)

2. It’s not shocks (swapped)

3. it’s not the rotors (swapped) I thought it was this because tires do the same at a certain speed

Could it be the ball joints? I wouldn’t think it is because I remember on my 190 when the ball joints went, it was a squeaking sound and did it also during stationary when the wheel turn back and forth. Could ball joint vibrate at a certain speed like what happening?

Problem found

1. Just drooping by to closed the thread.

2. I’ve found the caused, it was the roof racks against the wind, the Mercedes-Benz original equipment type. So for anyone with this application check it…

3. Lessons learned; have someone else drive and sit at different locations trough out the car to listen for sound.
