The ECU will retard the timing and adjust for lower grade gas. One tank will not kill the new C230K Engine. You should notice worse gas mileage but all will be well. When you get to about half a tank top it off with Premium and you will be ok. When the ECU retards for poor gas you will probably lose abotu 10-15 HP of course all will be well ater the new gas is put in. No worries really as the Computer will adjust.

I have never had any rough idling or poor performance with regular gas so I wonder if your husband hs tinkered with something else under the hood...just kidding. I have never heard any pinging with the regular gas either so either the knock sensors or the engine soundproofing is doing a good job.
Well your 300E is not a Supercharged engine though. Forced Induction engines normally require Premium, unless you are Volvo!

Olive!

It's OK

Really, it is. Rest easy. Your car won't blow up & the world won't end. At least not from this.

There's no comparison with the problem of diesel vs gasoline in the VW and with the two grades of gas in your current vehicle. Until you can get the fuel low enough to refill with the proper grade, just don't drive it hard. I wouldn't even go to the trouble of buying any octane booster.

(No, he's not hitting on Olive nor am I. Just trying to give good advice.)

BTW, tell your husband to contact us and we'll tell him where he can get a new set of balls . . . since most of us married guys have had to get a replacement pair from time to time.
