caliper leaking brake fluid rebuild or replace?

When I pulled the front left wheel off I noticed that the caliper was leaking brake fluid. Will a caliper repair kit solve this problem or do I need to replace the caliper. Also is it easy to do the repair as I have compressed air available. Any thoughts would be helpful.

don't waste your time

Rebuilding anc cleaning a caliper will take you several hours. it only takes 10 minutes to load new pads into a rebuilt caliper and then youre on to reinstall. For my 240D the calipers were only $60 each. Cleaner and the time to rebuild them would have taken much longer than an hour each, so it was well worth it. My opinion.

My calipers were over $200 a piece for rebuilds so I repaired them myself for $20 each for the front. as Zaffo said, its how much is your time worth. for me, it was worth it to do my brake system myself as I wanted to learn how to do it, plus it saved me ~$350 and I was able to knock it out in a solid day.

If you have to resleave the caliper cilinder,it may be better to replace, but if you need only the seal kit,I would go with rebuild!
I would take it off and check it out,the rebuild seal kit is $20 or so...
Good luck!

If you dont want to do it, find a place in town that does rebuilds for these. Consult a garage or 2 if you cant find the specific person. Mine was also leaking and I did a rebuild and cost me 85 instead of 266 for a rebuilt core
