short lived brush packs?
Hello everyone,
Has anyone had an experience with the non bosch brushes not lasting?? I have read from doing a couple searches that someone said they don't last...then again, I may have something in the alternator shaft or whatnot. the KAE I put in 2 months ago didn't last. One brush is fine and near new, the other is gone. I would hate to replace the alternator if I don't have to. thanks, opossum |
Hey guys,
From my understanding, the beauty (and the beast?) of these alternators is that changing the brushes is so easy. The place in town sells them for 16 bucks but should I go through them so fast? The new head mechanic at my trusty shop says when the brushes go the rest of the alternator is not far behind..Ok, fine. I don't believe you...However, I just coughed up 1100 bucks to the guy for regular mainenance stuff which I knew I had coming (drive shaft stuff, tune up, transmission mounts..etc...the price to pay for a car that you care for. So I don't care to kick down the extra right now as money is slightly tight. On that note, should I just bluntly ask if it is ridiculous to just do the brushes to buy some time? I think I just answered my own question, and I will but I suppose I will once again opt for the 16$ kae rather than the 26$ bosch..what the hell?? eh? thanks for listening, O |
