Can anyone tell me how to get to the shifter bushings on a 86 300E. Might have already asked this question once before.I don't remember the answer. Thanks

Check out http://www.DELSINGMOTORSPORT.COM for some aftermasrket shifter bushings. These are for manual tranny only.

There are two of them, about a dollar a piece. You have to get them from the bottom.

Richie,

I just replaced mine. From under the car remove the spring clip on the shifter end. On the trans end, remove the link from the trans(13mm nut?)and slip linkage assembly from the car. Press new bushing on the shift lever side and remove the spring clip from the trans link and press in new bushings.Reassemble the trans link back onto the shifter linkage and reinstall into the car.

Excuse the ignorance, but what are these for exactly?

They are bushings between the automatic gear selector lever, the shifter control rod and the transmission. They break down and fall out due to heat/age. You can still select gears ok, but you will hear a extra "clacking" noise when you do so.

Will these procedure also work for a 1993 300E 3.2L? Thanks!
