StarTuned article on Mercedes antifreeze - MUST READ

This is the best article I've ever seen. It's a 'must read' for all Mercedes-Benz owners:

https://mbwholesaleparts.com/StarTuned/pdfs/AntiFreeDec04.pdf
(1.8MB PDF file)

This should probably be a 'sticky' on the forum, no??

Very good article. So am I correct for getting the following info from that:
Use only MB antifreeze, and use as a 50/50 mixture with distilled water?

If thats correct, that leads me to my next question, how do you flush your current cooling system properly?

What I do is flush with regular water then take one or two gallons of distilled water and pour it through. Then I close the engine bleeder and start installing the 50/50 mix. The next time it gets changed I dont use tap water I just drain then pour two gallons of distilled through to flush and then fill again.

Distilled water is so cheep you cant go wrong.

You can also use Zerex G-05, which is widely available - same stuff. It meets the MB spec. (Read the label.)

The best way to flush the system. is through the heater circuit outlet from the engine. This will allow you to flush both the engine and heater circuit. You can buy "flush kits" at autoparts stores, or just make your own from generic parts - adaptors, flow control valves, etc. from an auto parts store.

Cold flush, engine off slowly with the radiator and block drains open. Once the efflluent is colorless and tasteless the old antifreeze should be 99.99 percent removed. You can also hot flush after cold flushing by filling the system with water, then running the engine to operating temperature for a few minutes, then drain.
