124 odometer/tripometer
My odometer stopped working recently. I pulled the instrument cluster and tried to see how to repair it. Didn't really have any luck.
Anyway, does the tripometer drive the odometer...or do they work independently of each other. My tripometer tries to work in the 10ths column..it goes to 1, sometimes 2, then stops. My goal is to stay out of repair shops as long as I can. |

Just had my odometer repaired. Same problem. There are a couple of small cogs at the head of the speedo cable, they seem to pack it in and it is almost impossible to repair your self. Cost $200 Aus for mine removed, repaired and fitted. Stops needle movement and all is now correct. Worth having done.

this is a very common failure. do some searches and you will find ways to fix it yourself. you can also send it off (see link) to get fixed for $75 or so.
