93 W124 Does it have Electronic Speedo Cable Connection?
 

Can anyone tell me if the instrument cluster in my 1993 400e has an electronic speedometer connection or an mechanical cable? I’m getting ready to remove the instrument cluster and I’m wondering if I need to remove the carpet and unclip a cable before attempting to remove cluster housing.

It’s my understanding the cutoff for electronic speedometer is 93?

It's probably electronic but the only way to tell for sure is to pull it. You can pull it either way. If the instrument pod only wants to come out about six inches or so it's probably a cable. But even then you can usually pull it out far enough to get your hand in there and unscrew it. If it's electronic there's usually a little more room to work with.

Our 93 is electronic.
