Brake questions?

Disc/Pads :
Time to replace front pads and rotors on my 86 300SDL. Two questions. Driving conditions are 75% city & 25% road. Currently using ATE rotors W/Pagid pads. Thinking of using ATE Power Disc, with Pagid pads or other?
What has been your experience with ATE Power Disc, and what pads have you been using? Dust is not good however, held back by Clean wheel covers.
Calipers:
Considering using rebuilt calipers, (unloaded) v/s new calipers. (Cardone rebuit). What are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Ron Ragno

On every one of my cars that I fitted Pagids, the rears would squeal!

I swapped with either the OEM (Textar) or Mintex and have no squeal issues.

Mintex is a bit harder compound than Textar and it emits far less dust, but it also means that it's harder on your rotors (i.e. more frequent replacement, perhaps).

Hey Ron,

I recently did exactly what you are planning on the SDL.

I used unloaded, rebuilt calipers from e-bay. Really had some luck and got the pair for $125.

Pads are Textar.

Rotors are Balo.

The dust is a problem so I use the KleenWheels. There is no more dust. I rarely even use the brakes when I drive it, so I'm certainly not concerned with overheating.

No brake squeal of any kind. No paste was used on the back of the pads.

If you drive it and use the brakes heavily, you might want to use a harder compound so the KleenWheels are not required.
