I've just bought a pristine condition 1990 500SL, and had the hardtop front rubber gasket replaced. The old one had some silicon sealer evident on the driver's side, suggesting a water problem. Now I get a few drops inside from both outside edges when I wash the car. I can see a razor's edge of light between the rubber seals above the pillar. Any suggestions, or do I just expect some leaking?

This model had many water leaks from the get-go. Several service bulletins on the subject. The pillar seals were modified several times. Convertibles are prone to some water intrusion!!
