SRS Light on 89' 300E

Hey guys...

I replaced my Over Voltage Protection relay... it completely solved all of my low RPM and stalling issues YAY!

My old OVP had 1 fuse on top and was made in Germany...
My new OVP has 2 fuses on top and is made in Hugary....

... however....

NOW.... after the replacement.....
My red SRS light sometimes illuminates... it seems to be completely random...

I turn the key to postion 1 and the only light that comes on is the SRS light, it then disappears in about 3 seconds or so.....

If I leave the drivers door open, the buzzer sounds of course.... but if I press my brake pedal down, the buzzer seems to choke or change its pitch as I pump the pedal......

Once the car is started.... the light will somethings come on and will disappear randomly.........

Thanks to all who can help and all that have helped me in the past..... my interest in cars keeps growing!!!!!

When this happened to me, it turned out to be worn brushes in the voltage regulator. 2 screws on the botton side of the alternator are removed. The old one pops out, the new one pops back in. Takes longer to setup for it than to actually do the work. This site and others sell a $15 volt. reg. that some believe to be as good as the Bosch counterpart which is more like $35 or so.

To test - start car. Hook up voltage ohm meter(VOM) - DC20 scale. Red lead to battery + and black lead to battery -

Running you will set anything from 13.x to 14.x

When the brushes are gone, your voltage reading while idling will be considerably less than 13.x

Also, new brushes are approx. 1/2" long when new.
